Recording- “WHY AMERICAN JEWS ARE INDEBTED TO BLACK CULTURE”

In Celebration of Black History Month. Guest Speaker: Dr. Steven Mintz, Professor of History at the University of Texas at Austin and renowned author and lecturer. Dr. Mintz will speak to us via Zoom.

It's often been said that the music of Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Benny Goodman, or even Bob Dylan would have been impossible without the influence of Black spirituals, blues, ragtime and jazz. But the indebtedness of Jewish cultural expression to Black culture goes well beyond the realm of music. Come and learn why Black History Month should matter - especially to American Jews!
