The Laughter Goes On: The Comedic Legacy Of The Catskills

The hotels of the Catskills are enshrined forever in Jewish memory. Affectionately nicknamed the "Borscht Belt", or the "Jewish Alps", the Catskill Mountains were the setting for an era of Jewish humor whose influence on American culture continues to this day. It launched the careers of comedians such as Woody Allen, Bea Arthur, Mel Brooks, Sid Caesar, Rodney Dangerfield, Totie Fields, Joey Bishop, Joan Rivers, Buddy Hackett, Alan King, Robert Klein, Jerry Lewis, Don Rickles, Soupy Sales, Jerry Stiller, Henny Youngman, and many many more!

On Saturday night, October 24th, three comedians with very familiar names will bring the comedic legacy of the Catskills to our community: Sheba Mason, daughter of Borsht Belt legend Jackie Mason, Reuven (Bobby) Russell, son of our own beloved Joey Russell and Marion Grodin (who still performs in the Catskills!), daughter of famed comedian Charles Grodin. The emcee for the evening will be our “professor of laughter” Joyce Saltman.

It promises to be a night to remember!  All are Welcome!
