Aminah al Saleh, whose family we and synagogues in the greater New Haven area recently adopted, is an accomplished Middle Eastern chef and phyllo specialist.

Aminah al Saleh, whose family we and synagogues in the greater New Haven area recently adopted, is an accomplished Middle Eastern chef and phyllo specialist.

"Phyllo", the Greek word for "leaf", is the origin of the term phyllo, or "leafy" pastry. Baklava, which consists of many "leaves", is one of the Middle East's most famous pastry delights. Interestingly, owing to its honey-soaked sweetness, Baklava is a traditional Rosh Hashanah treat in many Sephardic Jewish homes!

On Wednesday night, September 6th, Aminah will teach us how to make authentic (and amazing!) non-dairy Baklava, along with other Middle Eastern treats, using closely guarded recipes passed down in her family!

A $10 admission at the door is kindly requested, which will go toward the resettlement of Amina's family & as a fundraiser for our Congregation. Amina's baklava will be available for purchase that evening!

~All Are Invited~Kindly RSVP, if possible
