Shabbat on the Beach

Friday, July 28 at 7:00 pm.  Come to our third annual Shabbat service on the beach! The service will begin at 7pm. Feel free to arrive earlier - & bring a picnic if you like! This service will take place at Gulf Beach, Milford. (Coming from the Synagogue, drive to the former ShopRite on the corner of Cherry St & Gulf St ...turn left onto Gulf St... Proceed till you arrive at the beach. Set your GPS for #460, Gulf St) Look for us on the beach alongside the inlet, to the right of the Goody's concession. Men's Club members will welcome you and point to where we'll be. (Men's Club is coordinating the event). If you'd like to join a carpool to the beach please be at the Synagogue by 6:15 pm, or call Allen Cohen, President of Men's Club at 203.288.5011. Please dress casually! Shabbat at the Gazebo

Friday, September 8, 2017 at 7:00 pm - Join us as we hold our annual outdoor Friday night Shabbat Service in the Gazebo at High Plains Community Center! The Rabbi will bring his guitar and lead us in a joyful "sing-along" service. This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce prospective members to Or Shalom and to Rabbi Wainhaus. Approximately 100 people attend this popular Service. Chairs are provided but we encourage you to bring your own lawn chair. (Note the grounds and pavilion will be available prior to the event, if you would like to bring a picnic.) We will also be recognizing our new members during the Service. We look forward to seeing everyone! In addition, we will honor our outgoing President, Evan London at  this gazebo service. Adult Education Movie - Woman in Gold

Sunday, February 21, 2016, 2:00pm - Our Adult Education Committee will be showing Woman in Gold! The film is based on the true story of a Holocaust survivor living in Los Angeles who, together with her young lawyer, fought the government of Austria to reclaim Klimt's renowned painting of her aunt, which was stolen by the Nazis. She took her legal battle all the way to the Supreme Court of the U.S., which ruled on the case in 2004. [ more ]

Moe Berg, son of Ukrainian Jewish immigrants, was a professional baseball player in the 1930's. The Kabbalah of Healing

Saturday morning, July 9, 10am-11am- This Shabbat morning, noted local Kabbalah teacher Justin C. Beck will lead a session devoted to "Kabbalistic Healing". The masters of the Kabbalah in every generation were known to have passed down methods for helping us access our deepest inner resources for wellness. Justin C. Beck, whose recent Kabbalah class at Congregation Or-Shalom enjoyed glowing praise, will teach us how we can employ these meditational methods for healing and recovery in oneself and in others. Following his one-hour session, all are warmly invited to remain for the final half hour of the traditional Saturday morning service, as well as the Kiddush-refreshments, which follow. [ more ]
