Congregation Or Shalom is an egalitarian Conservative synagogue, drawn to tradition as well as aspiring to innovation.  We welcome interfaith families and our religious school welcomes interfaith families raising Jewish children. Our members reside in the greater New Haven area Eastern Fairfield County, and the Naugatuck Valley, and encompass a spectrum of ages, political orientations and levels of Jewish observance.  Yet, we all feel connected!

UPDATE!!!!! Shabbat on the Beach postponed until July 21st

DEAR MEMBERS... The rainstorm expected this afternoon has put a "damper" on our Shabbat at the Beach! Consequently, we've decided to reschedule it for this week, Friday evening, July 21. Shabbat at the Gazebo

Friday, September 8, 2017: Join us as we hold our annual outdoor Friday night Shabbat Service under the Gazebo at High Plains Community Center on Friday evening, September 8th at 7:00 pm! The Rabbi will bring his guitar and lead us in a joyful "sing-along" service. This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce prospective members to Or Shalom and to Rabbi Wainhaus. Annual Campaign

The Or Shalom Annual Campaign FY2017/18 is on! The Annual Campaign is one way we help keep dues lower than other local congregations. It allows us to distribute the financial burden voluntarily, to those that may be better able to afford it, in so doing lessening the burden on those who may be less able to do so. Participating is indeed a mitzvah. [ more ]

How can you help Or Shalom while shopping?  Did you know that you can purchase Stop and Shop, Shoprite and Whole Foods gift cards through the synagogue office at face value and the synagogue earns a percentage?  Specifically we earn 5 % of the face value while you pay face value and can use the card to buy your weekly groceries!  Last year Or Shalom earned $2697.00 with an average of 20 members participating monthly.
